When working together with special paper printing, since this type of work belongs to special printing, there are certain requirements for printing design. Here is a detailed introduction to the printing design requirements of several papers.

Special printing paper

1. Embossed paper

(1) Features of embossed paper

Using mechanical embossing or crumpled paper, a concave-convex pattern is formed on the outline of the paper or cardboard. Embossed paper improves its decoration effect through embossing, making the paper more textured. In recent years, the embossing of printing papers has become more and more extensive. Colored and dyed papers such as offset paper, art paper, sharp sword board paper, sharp sword cardboard, etc. are embossed (textured) before printing, as "embossed printing paper" , Can greatly improve the grade of paper, and also bring higher added value to the sale of paper. Many papers used in flexible packaging often adopt the method of embossing before or after printing to improve the visual effect of the wrapping table and improve the value of the product. Therefore, embossing has become a main method of paper processing.

(2) Processing method of embossed paper

There are two ways to process embossed paper. One is that after the paper is produced, the pattern is mechanically added to become embossed paper; the other is that after the flat sheet of paper is dried, it is put into the embossing machine for further processing, and then the two rollers are pressed against each other, one of which is rolled The shaft is engraved with an embossing pattern, and the paper will be embossed into a pattern when the paper is twisted. Because embossed paper has a darker texture, only one side of the paper is usually embossed.

(3) Types of embossing

Embossing can be divided into two types: pattern embossing and non-register embossing. The so-called register embossing is to press the printed flower shape into a concave-convex shape according to the flower shape of the printing, so that the markings will rise, which can play a role in elegant decoration.

Without pattern embossing, the embossed pattern is not directly related to the pattern of the print. There are many types of embossed patterns. Such as cloth pattern, twill pattern, straight stripe, Yalian net, orange peel pattern, straight net pattern, needle net pattern, egg skin pattern, sack pattern, lattice pattern, leather pattern, scalp pattern, summer cloth pattern, gear stripes, etc. This kind of non-overprint embossing is commonly used for embossing printing paper, coated book cover paper, patent paper, plastic synthetic paper, vegetable parchment paper and other decoration materials.

The domestically-made embossed paper is made of offset paper and sharp board paper. The profile is rough and clumsy, with texture, strong expression, and a wide range of varieties. Many art designers are more interested in using this type of paper, and use it to make the covers and title pages of books or albums to express different personalities.

2. Plant parchment (sulfuric acid paper)

Vegetable parchment paper is a kind of modified paper made of plant fiber after the thick paper is treated with sulfuric acid to change the original properties. It is semi-transparent, the paper has few bulging holes, the paper is tough and dense, and it can be waxed, coated, embossed or wrinkled. Besides, it is easy to mix with tracing paper.

Therefore, semi-transparent paper and sulfuric acid paper are often used as ring lining or lining paper for books in modern designs. If permitted, they can better highlight and set off the theme, and they are suitable for modern tides. Sometimes it is also used as the title page of a book or picture album.

3. Synthetic paper (polymer paper and plastic paper)

Synthetic paper is made of synthetic resin (such as PP, PE, PS, etc.) as an important raw material. The resin is melted through a certain process, and then extruded and extended to form a film. Then it will be processed into paper and paid with natural plant fibers. Information obtained from sharpness, opacity, and printability. Generally, synthetic paper is divided into two categories: one is fiber-based synthetic paper, and the other is film-based synthetic paper.

On the outside, synthetic paper is no different from general natural plant fiber paper. Film-based synthetic paper has entered the high-end printing paper market and can adapt to a variety of printing machines. The synthetic paper used in the market at the moment only refers to film-based synthetic paper. If the books, advertisements, imitation bills, etc. printed on synthetic paper are not marked, the average consumer will not be able to see the difference between them and popular paper.

Synthetic paper has excellent printing performance, and will not produce "paper break" phenomenon during printing; the outline of synthetic paper shows very small bumps, which can greatly assist in improving opacity and printability; synthetic paper image reproduction is good , The dots are clear, the tone is soft, the size is stable, and it is not easy to age. It is worth noting that when using offset printing, professional synthetic paper offset printing inks should be used.

Specialty paper is a paper with a special use and a relatively small output. There are many types of specialty papers, which are collectively referred to as various special purpose papers or art papers. At the moment, sellers refer to art papers such as embossed papers as specialty papers. It is important to simplify the messy terms caused by the wide variety. There are many types of specialty papers, and the design consequences are not all the same. This article briefly introduces the precautions for art paper printing design.
